Under the direction of Rockin' Rupert Pacheco, Program Director, and Morning Show host for KXEW-AM "Tejano 1600" in Tucson, AZ. The popular Tejano band, "Se Salen", continues to enjoy wide popularity in nightclubs all over Tucson, and Southern Arizona, and Texas. Performing, and showcasing their talent, and love for the music. Today, Se Salen is a sextet with a rich, textured sound with current members enjoying the luxury of having one of the most experienced musicians in Tucson. Se Salen has shared the stage with: Pete Astudillo, La Differencia, Rodeo, Little Joe, Jimmy Gonzalez, Los Garcia Bros, Jay Perez, Grupo Vida, Emilio, Ruben Ramos, Ramon Ayala, Shelly Lares, Adalberto and the Latin Breed, Joe Posada, and David Lee Garza y Los Musicales, Bob Gallarza, Roger Velasquez, Chente Barrera, David Marez, Rebecca Valadez, Max Baca, and David Faria, Jimmy Edward, Rudy Palacios, Joe Revelez, and Albert Hernandez.......... rupert@tejano1600.com A SHORT HISTORY OF THE BAND: SE SALEN was formed in 1995, performing in local venues and clubs like Famous Sam's, The Hide-Out, Park Ave Bar & Grill. as well as private celebrations. Se Salen started out as a quintet back then with Rupert Pacheco on trumpet, guitar and vocals, Frank Aguilar, bass guitar and vocals, Johnny Ray Hayes, keyboards, Robert Aguayo guitar and Danny Molina drums. Other members of note were Danny Molina drums, Adrian Morales drums, Ed Lopez accordion, Ray Armijo guitar. Mike Alegria drums, Danny Yanez drums, Joe Armijo drums, Manny Uzueta sax, keyboards, Henry Loya vocals, guitar, Bobby Valenzuela vocals, sax, Alex Valencia keyboards, accordions, vocals, Robert Aguayo guitar. We thank all of our former members for their contributions to Se Salen and we wish them well in their future endeavors. Se Salen continues to evolve and grow, but one thing remains the same our commitment to play Tejano music, and have fun!!...........the story continues!
